Susan E. Stanger
About Me
I am the third generation of women artists in my family. I grew up in NJ, making art and visiting museums in NYC. I continued to draw, sketch and paint for several years in Hawaii and through my ultimate move to the Bay Area in 1998. I have a BA from Brown University in Fine Art and an MA from Syracuse University in Illustration. *Grandmother, Tobeleah Wechsler, co-founded the Cheltenham Art Center in PA. Mother, Barbara W. Stanger, is an accomplished metalsmith, fiber artist and painter.
About My Work
I draw and paint because life is unpredictable and fascinating; at times strikingly beautiful and utterly awful at others. I’m always learning and pushing myself to try new techniques. For many years, I have sketched in small notebooks. More recently, I’ve pushed myself to work larger, focusing on patterns and textures in our landscapes. My medium of choice is watercolor with pen and ink. I occasionally create in acrylic or incorporate it into my watercolors. To read more about me and my work, go to Suzine.com
